What is a Doula?
A Doula provides skilled physical, emotional, & informational support through pregnancy, birth, baby care, breastfeeding & the transition to parenthood.
I like to describe a Doula's work as the following:
A Doula provides Emotional Support by using encouragement, reassurance and a continuous physical presence.
A Doula provides Informational Support by giving explanations, making educated and informed suggestions, and suggesting resources.
A Doula offers Physical Support which can include comfort measures, massage, pressure point techniques, homeopathy, and bush flower essences.
A Doula also offers Advocacy by helping couples discover their own voices and communicate effectively in their choice of birthplace; interpreting the woman's or couple's wishes to their care providers and hospital staff & working to protect birth as being a highly individual & sacred event.

PLEASE NOTE: ONLY LIMITED AVAILABILITY IN 2015 AND 2016.
Please contact me early to check availability for birth support. In order to devote as much time as possible to clients, I only support 1-2 births per month. The more time we have, the better the opportunity you have to prepare for your labour and birth.
